Client: IFAI Institute for Art and Innovation for one of their projects called 'The Universal Sea', that deals with plastic pollution in water.
It was initiated as a project (EU co-funded 2017 – 2019) and has been a massive undertaking by establishing a strong network of more than 1100 artists and business innovators, 75 institutions, 20 universities, and 11 festivals. With our co-creation workshops, interventions and exhibitions we have attracted an audience of 6.5 million participants and 1.7 million online visitors coming from 70 countries.
Re-branding, creating an identity and visual language for this project, a platform where artists, scientists, entrepreneurs and experts come together and find innovative solutions for this epidemic.

Retaining some old aspects of their logo like colours and font, but giving the identity more legs to extend over to various deliverables for the the project. The wave was created to work not only as an icon but a clever play with the type as well. Independently they both work, based on the application and placement as you will see in the assets below.

The idea of a drop of water and wave, was to effectively show the idea of sea and water and how it is so important and matters universally. And incorporating that in the typography which can work independent of the icon.
That set the idea and inspired the project brand-book and language for various channels, from Sponsor Booklets to the Cover Design for the guidebook. Find more about the project on The Universal Sea
