Client: Spade Publication
The book is the result of a retreat, where thoughtful minds discussed many aspects of the architecture discipline, that concerns architecture in India, from Practice to Academics.

"Behind Closed Doors" as the name suggests, it was a closed door meet of architects. Translating the discussions that took place in form of a publication of essays. Visualising the book as a "black box", the only way of knowing what was being discussed during Architects' Retreat.
Each section is illustrated as per the theme and having a box as metaphor being the connecting thread throughout the book.
It was a collaboration that opened my mind and approach to working on a book design. The project went beyond designing layouts and selecting a typefaces. It involved working closely with the editors, understanding the nuances of architecture practice and bringing it alive in the illustrated visuals. I wanted the structure and the grid work of the book itself to be like a curated space on a page.
This publication is designed and conceptualised for SPADE. A forum that looks into the state of design in India, aiming at garnering insights towards architecture from unfiltered standpoints. It is a space for deliberation that attempts to question contemporary architectural thought, and in doing so, invites introspection and explorations across fields.

Accompanying this book is a short film based on the Architects' Retreat.
